Controversial German film director Uwe Boll ('BloodRayne') issued a fight challenge several months ago 
to his critics after tiring of their horrible reviews. He had some takers. First in the ring was Richard Kyanka (MO) webmaster of www.somethingawful.com. He wore stars and stripes shorts. Boll KO'd him in the 1st round.
Jeff Sneider (CA) a writer for Ain't It Cool News, had a technical KO called after his manager threw in the towel. He cried that Boll said it was a PR stunt, a joke. "Then he started beating the crap out of my head," Sneider said. "I think he's a jerk. This might be PR but I don't want to keep getting punched in the head." Chris Alexander of Canada, a horror-move journalist with Rue Morgue radio and magazine, also went down in a KO. But while getting punched in the head, Alexander popped his fake blood packet, scaring Boll for a moment. Said Alexander, "I spat it out. I freaked him out exactly like I wanted to do, it was poetry. It was my Jedi mind trick to try and disorient him."
Nelson Chance Mintner, (MD) a web site critic, was the youngest at 17. He also lost by technical knockout.
Mel Gibson slammed the Iraq war while in President Bush's home state of Texas to promote his upcoming movie. Gibson made a surprise appearance at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, to promote "Apocalypto." A movie about the Mayan collapse. He said, "What's human sacrifice if not sending guys off to Iraq for no reason?" He also got a standing ovation when he took questions.

e threw out the spousal abuse suit against Liza Minnelli filed by her ex-husband David Gest. Mr. Pest, err...Gest, claimed Liza assaulted him in drunken fits. He complained of multiple long term injuries which the judge said there was conflicting evidence regarding the extent of them. Gest was suing for $10 Million dollars.actress and Gest, an event producer and promoter. Minnelli has also filed a separate counterclaim against him, saying he alienated people in show business, costing her work. Gest's lawyer vowed to appeal.
I bet he did.
