Sources say that Anna screamed for “about a half hour” after she realized her son was dead. Now in the midst of her grief, Smith has to deal with accusations that her son died of a drug-overdose, or in the very least, under “suspicious” circumstances. Daniel had prescription antidepressants in his system at the time of his death, but more concerning, had been experiencing health problems in the months leading up to his untimely death. He had dropped 28lbs, had severe stomach pains, and had been placed under ICU care for several days. Friends claim that the emotions of his mother’s pregnancy may have pushed Daniel, already in fragile condition, over the edge. The two were very close, and now the public wonders if Daniel had followed in the footsteps of his mother who used drugs in the past. Authorities say that most often in cases of a young death like this, “there are very few causes other than drugs.” While Smith mourns the death of her beloved first child, the world wonders, did she succeed in keeping her son from drugs? With Bahamian inquest scheduled for Oct. 23rd, only time will tell.
