Is Madonna following in the footsteps of fellow celebrity mom Angelina Jolie when it comes to expanding her family? The pop wonder, 48, and husband Guy Ritchi, 38, are flying to the African republic of Malawi to help raise money and awareness about the country's children who are orphaned by AIDS. While in the beautiful but impoverished southeast African country, where more than one million people are HIV-positive or have AIDS, the couple is hoping to bring back a little one for their son, Rocco, 6, and daughter, Lourdes, 9, to play with. "They have already investigated adoption in Malawi, and it's not a simple process," a friend of the couple tells Star. "But Madonna and Guy are committed to giving an orphan love and a new home." Adds another source, "They're terrific parents and they know that they can give an orphan a fantastic new family life." Indeed! Madonna and Guy, married since 2000, recently relocated to Los Angeles to put the zing back in their relationship, but also have homes in NYC and England. The best-selling children's book author also just ended a 25-city music tour that included Moscow, Osaka, Japan, and Dusseldorf, Germany. And the kids were along for the ride! Should the Malawian plans fall through, the two are nonetheless "determined to go ahead with adoption," adds the friend. As sources told Star in July, Madonna and Guy had already started filling out the necessary paperwork and hoped to have a new Ritchie by the end of the year. Good luck!"
