Even though Daniel's body is still in the Bahamas that didn't stop them. Daniel's father, Billy Smith, was one of the attendees. He did not speak at the service and was said to be grief stricken.
Billy spoke to reporters after the service and said that he hadn't seen Daniel since he was 2 years old.
He learned about his son's death when his brother had read about it on the computer.
Billy married Anna when he was 16 and Anna was 17. He also said that he had no ill feelings toward Anna.
Many of the people who attended the service had not seen Daniel in years. Daniel was remembered as a little boy who loved 'The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.' The church had cutouts of the cartoon characters outside of the church.
Daniel's great-grandfather delivered the eulogy, saying that he hadn't had much of a chance to know Daniel but that they would be reunited someday.
